HERE'S WHAT CRITICS AND INDUSTRY INSIDERS
HAVE HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE ILLUMINATI
"Like nothing and everything I've ever heard."
--Liz Koch, Promotion Agent,
Notorious Productions, Astoria, NY.
**NEW**
As the first track, "Holiday" begins, I immediately
feel better about my day. The piano is
soothing and is accompanied by a mellow vocal. It reminds me of
British rock -- the kind that
isn’t afraid to just be what it is. Because they are influenced
by many different styles, the music on this disc is hard to describe.
Other tracks on the album, like “Crazy” and “Forge“
have more of an edgy rock sound to them, but it still retains
the mellow groove that I love.
Each song on this album carries with it a message, mainly one
of social awareness.
The song that affects me most is “Universal Soldier.”
This group of guys has un-
compromising morals. They admit to being pressured to stick to
one “marketable”
sound, but they don’t surrender. The diversity of their
style is what I find most attractive.
The Illuminati are probably a band best experienced live. I’m
convinced that they give a powerful performance on stage, and
I can’t wait to experience it for myself. This album is
inspiring and should be shared with as many people as possible.
As we say here at Word of Mouth:“Spread the word!”
Final Verdict: Powerful music with a strong message. A diverse,
masterful blend of genres.-- Word
of Mouth.com, Oct. 2006
"THE ILLUMINATI do what they do best on this album - a meditative
rock extravaganza, wheel-painted with soft, laid-back vocals and
innovative arrangements. Moody and strong, Love and War
is a triumph for
THE ILLUMINATI who have once again proven themselves pigeonhole
genre proof."
--Kevin Keating, CD Reviews,

“Love and War is 13 throbbing tracks from THE
ILLUMINATI.
Alternative rock at it’s best with a punk, funk, grunge
sound that pushes the
boundaries of diversity. Being Crazy John, my favorite track off
the album, of course,
is the song “Crazy,” but I also greatly liked “Lie,
Lie, Lie” which makes you ponder
what is going on in this day and age! Very unique and enjoyable.
If you do not get
it at first, listen again and you will eventually realize its
depth.”
--Crazy John, CD Reviews,
HbgOnline.com,
June 2006
"(THE ILLUMINATI) sound like a cross between
Led Zeppelin and
Pink Floyd. I haven't heard anything that sounds quite like it,
which is
something I seldom say considering all the stuff I listen to."
--Bill Hanson, Host, The Sunday News
105.7 WQXA, Elizabethtown, PA
"Readers of this column may recognize Stephen Musti as the
name of
the driving force behind a band called Alien Sphynx whose
album
I'm Telling You still gets rotation in my office sound
system.
He has returned with his wonderfully colorful vocals, great guitar
work, and
topical, informed, and subversive lyrics along with fellow front
man
keyboardist/vocalist/guitartist Mark Higgins, ballsy former Sphynx
drummer Dana DeLong, and skillful bassist Aaron Hoke as the legendary
world-dominating cabal, THE ILLUMINATI. The five-song EP
begins
with the wondeful, radio-ready "Final Fight" and proceeds
through three
more ambitious, mid tempo epics including the excellent "The
Winds" and
finishes with Sphynx's beautiful instrumental "Jade."
The addition of
Mark Higgins' keys and compositional skills take this material
a bit beyond that
done with Alien Sphynx, although the punkier anarchistic
element of
Sphynx is missing from this collection. The band retains
Musti's
penchant for ambitious, broad, Floyd-like musical statements,
although these
ventures could be abbreviated a bit to avoid more than a passing
glance at
indulgence. That aside, we're talking about a great, much-awaited,
follow up
work by a band containing some of my favorite local artists. Can't
wait for a
full-length! Can't wait to see them! (schedule please?)
--Alex Greenberg, CD reviewer,
PA Musician
Magazine,
October, 2003.
NOTE: PA Musicianwent on
to rank Because as the 10th best album of
2003 out of over 3,000 submissions. It was the only EP that made
the list.
"A great departure from today's commercial drivel, THE
ILLUMINATI offer
socially relevent lyrics, supported by complimentary and well-developed
musical progressions. How refreshing! I could listen to these
guys for hours!
--Melissa Gee, Host, Fresh Cuts and Local Anesthetic
92.1 FM, Lock Haven, PA
"I really liked (Because). It sounds fresh in
a genre that is
getting stale and redundant."
--Yaron Gabai, Owner,
Jagged Edge Productions, Philadelphia,
PA.
"This is a band that obviously takes time to craft their
music. The songs are
very well written and recorded throughout . . . . My guess is
that (THE ILLUMINATI)
are of those bands that are really just in it for the music. Which
is just fine."
Mike Brennan, CD Reviews,
